We could really use some help.
We have a small rota of people who are available to rig a show, and they are not always available to do it. It takes 3 people to do the job. On one gig, two people were away, and one was caught in a traffic jam for an hour. For that gig, one able person and one wheelchair user rigged the show.
So what special skills do you need to do this? The ability to climb a ladder would be helpful. There is some lifting, and pushing wheeled stuff about, setting up chairs, etc. The lighting setup obviously needs ladders. Mics need setting up and wiring. There are other miscellaneous tasks.
We get in to rig at 4pm on a good day, 5pm otherwise, as our rooms might be in use for a conference during the day. We sound check at 6 and run the show from 8 till 10:30. Then we put everything away (quicker than setting up), and sit down to coffee or tea and sandwiches.
We do have fun and there is a perk: you and a partner get in free.
You might even fancy being a sound engineer, or already have this skill. If you have a good ear, the job can be fun, and is less difficult than you would imagine. Both techy people and non-techy people can run a show.
We could use a social media person.
So there are lots of things where help would be appreciated. If you would like to help Fleece Jazz have a secure future, just email Dave. We do have fun, and there is that perk.
